The Greenland Institute of Natural Resources
A guided tour to the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources
The tour takes us through the building that is one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in the Arctic. The Greenland Institute of Natural Resources is the Greenland Home Rule Centre of Natural Science, providing data regarding sustainable utilisation of living resources in Greenland. We will see the abstract decorated walls by Aka Høegh, one of Greenland's most famous artist. Then, we will take a look at the laboratory and if there is an opportunity, we will listen to a scientist who will tell us a bit about their work.
Then you have the chance to see and even touch the worlds oldest mussel, that's 60 millions old! Thereafter, we will pass the freezer and take a look at some of the tests of the hunted species that are kept for further research.
Finally, we will visit the exhibition section, where there is a copy of a full-sized narwhale and an exhibition regarding the wildlife in Nuuk area.
